The STICK Co.’s President, Damian Ferek, was honored recently with his selection by West Virginia Executive magazine into its group of 2016 Young Guns.

The Young Guns awards began in 1999 as a way to recognize “citizens of West Virginia who drive the success of the Mountain State.” Each year, recipients are chosen through a rigorous selection process before earning the Young Gun title.

A reception was held in Charleston to honor the 2016 honorees.

“It was an honor winning the award and being recognized as part of such an impressive group of colleagues,” Ferek said. “While an individual award by name, the award is a complete reflection of our entire STICK team and everyone’s continued dedication and effort. With any first generation company, it takes a little bit of everything to all come together, and collectively, we have managed to launch and grow an ad agency, an oil and gas expo, and a tattoo shop. The STICK Co. has launched another mold-breaking site in the oil and gas sector, this one for KATKO Ltd. The company came to STICK wanting a new branding and marketing plan that included business cards, sales collateral and a website.

STICK Graphic Designer Maria Ashenfelder accepted the challenge and produced amazing results for KATKO – a leading oil and gas service company headquartered in St. Clairesville, Ohio and branch offices in Wheeling, W.Va. and Carmichaels, Pa.

“KATKO wanted something that was totally different, something that no one expected and set them apart from the rest of the oil and gas companies,” Ashenfelder said. “I think we delivered that in a big way.”

The new business cards are top-of-the-line, frosted plastic featuring the company’s signature colors and logo delivered in an almost-indestructible format. The print materials carry forward the color and design schemes chosen for the brand and the new website features a confident tone, easy navigation and an exciting, bold look.

Another fantastic website is in the books for The STICK Co., and the message doesn’t get much more real than what’s delivered on the new AddictionHappens.org site.

The project is grant-funded through the Garrett County Health Department and aims to increase awareness, spread knowledge and share resources for anyone wanting to know more about addiction to pain medications. This particular type of addiction is a growing problem in Garrett County and residents there are taking a stand.

The STICK Co. is managing a large outreach campaign for the Program with the website as the central piece. STICK President Damian Ferek and Senior Designer Lauren Lamb worked hand in hand on the site’s design.

“This particular website and its message really hit home for me,” Lamb said. “My family never thought addiction could affect us. It did. It can happen to anyone. No one is above it and no one is immune. This is such an important message and I hope we successfully communicated the sense of urgency that this topic deserves.”

The website was designed with a bold color scheme and features relatable imagery. Addiction has many powerful statistics behind it and the STICK staff worked several of these into the central design. The site also includes a section where visitors can share their stories about opioid addiction, extensive resources and even a “street cred” test.

The STICK Co. walked away a winner at the 2015 Public Relations Society of America West Virginia Chapter gala held in Charleston recently.

The agency won top honors for two of websites it created and in the single-issue newsletter booklet category. Another of its sites earned an honorable mention.

The STICK Co. created the Mountain State Stone website to showcase the company’s luxurious outdoor products and breathtaking imagery representing many finished products. The site was eye-catching and helped Mountain State Stone to create an online presence and overall lifestyle brand. The site earned first place from PRSA.

STICK also earned the top spot in the “Pro Bono Website” category for our work on the Deuce Strong website. The site tells the story of 6-year-old West Virginia-born Devon “Deuce Williams” who was diagnosed with a serious condition that will require a double lung transplant. STICK wanted to help create an online presence and platform for fundraising. PRSA agreed the site is pretty special too.

Another first place was awarded to STICK for its work on the WVU Children’s Hospital Gala Booklet. On this project, the STICK staff worked closely with WVU Children’s Hospital to showcase the food, dining, entertainment and live auctions that were planned as part of the hospital’s annual fundraising gala. Emotional language and photography were used to draw an emotional connection between the event and the cause.

STICK’s work on Clear Mountain Bank’s new website earned an honorable mention from PRSA. On this project, the agency’s staff worked closely with bank leadership to revamp its existing website with modern design tools and a more interactive and user-friendly design which led to an increase in number of accounts.

The STICK Co. has worked very close with the region’s newest semi-pro ball team – the West Virginia Black Bears – to launch their brand and ready their new stadium. Before the first pitch was thrown on opening day, STICK wrapped cars, designed signage and stadium sponsor banners, developed a slew of promotional materials and even wrapped the stadium’s beer cart.

The Stick Company is excited to contribute to the 20th Annual Red Shoe Ride benefitting the Morgantown Ronald McDonald House Charity. The ride is one of Morgantown RMHC’s main fundraisers, and a great way to raise some of the funds they need for the ongoing expenses at the house.

The Stick Company created a unified campaign that includes flyers, posters, banners and social media graphics to generate interest in the upcoming event. Stick’s materials are being displayed all throughout the Morgantown area by a variety of Ronald McDonald House’s supporters.

“We love working closely to help and support local children, and especially helping lend our creative services to benefit the community,” said Damian Ferek, President of The Stick Company. “The Ronald McDonald House Poker run, the Red Shoe Ride, is a great event that allows us to continue to work along side such great partners such Triple S Harley Davidson, WVU Children’s Hospital and The Mason Jar.
Everyone at the Ronald McDonald House is doing an amazing job in the planning and preparation of the event, and we’re looking forward to the best turnout yet.”

The ride takes place on Saturday, June 27 and will start at Triple S Harley Davidson at the Gateway Centre in Morgantown. Registration is from 10am-Noon and is running a special rate of $20 in honor of the ride’s 20th year. The ride includes stops at Big Daddy’s Club and Restaurant, Riverview Lounge, Terra Alta VFW, Smokin’ Jacks and then concludes at The Mason Jar with live music and great food.

The health and fitness market’s latest brand will feature packaging designed by STICK. The LMNITRIX line will be launched in the coming weeks by Jeremy Corbitt and Emeri Connery, the experts behind Lmnitrix, a Morgantown, W.Va.-based fitness lifestyle company.

The LMNITRIX product line includes nutritional and exercise supplements. Melt, a fat burner, Veinz, a vasodilator, FOCUS, a pre workout and POST, a post workout, and a BCAA all have been developed in a variety of delicious flavors. The packaging created for the line will set it apart from similar products on the shelves through its bold and colorful design scheme.

STICK has been working closely with the LMNITRIX team to create the many pieces necessary to launch a successful national campaign. In addition to packaging materials, STICK will be launching the company’s website in the coming weeks, has created business cards, a large trade show booth for the Mr. Olympia show in Las Vegas, trade show items and other collateral.

“The fun in this project was watching the brand unfold into multiple products and keeping a consistency through all of the different pieces that we’re working with,” said STICK Senior Designer Lauren Lamb. “I’m really looking forward to seeing my designs hit the shelves on a product with such potential for national reach.”

The STICK Co. recently completed a partial vinyl vehicle wrap for a new heating and cooling business – Xcellerated Heating and Cooling based in Carmichaels, Pa. The company offers 24 hours per day, seven days per week, and 365 days per year emergency service and repair response in Carmichaels as well as in a large radius of surrounding communities.

STICK was able to design, print and install a vinyl vehicle wrap, which utilizes the company’s logo on a 2015 Ford F-350 service truck. This application showcases the companies branding in a bold, colorful way.

Clear Mountain Bank, one of the region’s most recognized banks, has a long tradition of exceptional service and customer-first mentality. Long-time business partners, Clear Mountain has worked with The STICK Co. since 2009 to create and develop new visual standards for the company, whose marketing and web materials were given a facelift in early 2014

The STICK Co. has worked with CMB throughout the years on multiple website versions. In 2009, using the company’s classic logo, STICK developed the Clear Mountain Bank Website with an easy-to-use dropdown navigation, as well as a portal-styled homepage highlighting important aspects of the site. The site, and following materials, put new flourishes on CMB’s established brand and laid the foundation for the CMB website that exists today.

Most recently in 2014, CMB came to STICK looking for more modern programming tools such as responsive design and SEO, all while keeping similar design principles to maintain the look of their site. To achieve this, STICK reorganized CMB’s content, giving it a slight refresh and ensuring it was coded appropriately. In the end, the design also received a different choice, making certain the site was both visually and structurally appealing.

STICK works closely with the CMB marketing team to create a majority of print efforts including print advertisements, billboards, in-store signage and a variety of handouts.

Complimenting the visual appeal of the website, STICK has also developed campaigns for CMB such as the LOCAL ROOTS campaign, Holiday Gift Card Campaign, Clear Mountain Cares and Number One Lender.

STICK also created new and fresh ideas for CMB business cards. Each division’s employees were equipped with unique business cards, designed specifically to make each division distinct all while remaining brand consistent.

The STICK Co. recently launched a really special website called Deuce Strong. We donated our time, along with our photography friend Amberlee of Amberlee Christey Photography, to build a site for a little boy and his family that won us over without even trying.

Devon “Deuce” Williams is a 6-year-old boy who lives in Morgantown, W.Va. He’s dealt with way more than any child should and still faces getting through a double lung transplant. He was diagnosed with Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia in 2013, which greatly affects his breathing.

STICK Co. designer Maria Ashenfelder spearheaded the project and the final product is as phenomenal as Deuce and his family.

“Deuce is such a happy, loving little boy and is such a fighter,” Ashenfelder said. “We wanted to give him a chance to tell the world his story.”

The site was designed with a light and airy feel. Great care was given to keep the tone light too even though the situation is a pretty heavy one. The content is written from Deuce’s point of view and our team used strong imagery to convey the tone and message.

Team STICK GNCC dirt bike rider Eddie White continues to dominate the region’s racing scene. He recently competed in the New East Coast XC event and garnered first place in both series. His next race will be at Snowshoe, WV for the Rd 9 AMSOIL Snowshoe event.

“I ran first in both GNCC and New East Coast because the bikes are running well and I’ve been getting better at strategic racing,” White said “We’re headed to the toughest race of the year next. But, the bikes are rebuilt and I’m ready.”
